Flowstate FAQs

I've never done an ice bath before, can I still book?

Absolutely! You don't need any previos cold-water experience to visit Flowstate HQ. Our sessions are designed to welcome complete beginners as well as experienced cold-water enthusiasts. You'll be guided through the process by our experienced Ice Coaches, who will explain what to expect, help you prepare and coach you through your immersion.

How cold are your ice baths?

We offer two different cold water experiences at Flowstate HQ:

Our Contrast Therapy tank is mechanically chilled and maintained between 5-7ºC, giving you a consistently cold experience alongside our tradtional sauna.

Our ice tank is filled with ice and sits at 0ºC or slighlty below, providing a proper cold exposure experience. Ice sessions are fully coached by our team, with a focus on safety and control at all times.

What should I bring?

Keep it simple! For your session we recommend bringing:

- your usual swimwear

- 2 towels (one to sit on in the sauna and one to dry yourself with)

- Flip-flops or sliders as the floor can become wet during your session

- a water bottle, staying hydrated before and after your session is important

I have a medical condition, can I still take part?

For the most part, yes but cold water/ice immersion and heat exposure can place significant stress on the body, so some medical conditions, medications or other circumstances may mean that our sessions aren't suitable for you. If you have any medical condition, take regular medication, are pregnant or are unsure whether cold or heat exposure is appropriate for you, please check with your doctor or healthcare provider before booking. You'll also be asked to answer some basic medical information on our waiver during the booking process - please answer these questions honestly, they're there to help us keep you safe!

Do you offer group bookings?

Definitely - we love working with groups! We can create a custom session to suit your group needs, whether it's a birthday, a team day or just something a bit different with your mates. Call us on 07338080187 or email us at flowstateexperiencecic@gmail.com to discuss suitability and availability.

Why do you charge for your services if Flowstate is a not-for-profit CIC?

Being a CIC doesn't mean we can't charge for our services, we still have bills and real day-today running costs to cover. The difference is what happens to any surplus - all profit we generate is put directly back into the community instead of benefitting the owners. This means we can offer free and reduced price activities and create more opportunities for people to experience the benefits of cold exposure and connection.

Do I have to book in advance or can I just walk-in?

Walk-ins are welcome but subject to availability. You can drop by to check if we have space or give us a call on 07338080187.

Do you have minimum age requirement?

No, Cold Exposure has benefits for people of all ages! Our Thank Flowstate it's Friday community nights are the perfect opportunity to introduce children to the thrill of an ice bath in a lively environment - there is no charge for children under 14 years old, children between 14-18 years old are charged at half price on community nights (£10).

What if I can't afford a session?

We don't want money to be a barrier to accessing Flowstate. Each week we reserve a number of Community Access spaces for people who may not be able to afford our usual prices but who could genuinely benefit from Cold Exposure, connection and the Flowstate community ethos. If cost is stopping you coming along, please reach out to us. There's no complicated application process and no judgment - just a conversation about how we might be able to help.
